IELTS

International English Language Testing System – Academic & General Training

The test is split into four sections:

The three-hour test sessions are split into three main parts: 

  • Speaking and Writing (77-93 Minutes) include a personal introduction, reading comprehension, image description, short questions, summary, and an essay.
  • Reading (32-40 minutes) includes filling in the blanks and multiple choice questions.
  • Listening (45-57 minutes) including summarizing text and speech, filling in the blanks, selecting missing words, and writing from dictation.

TOEFL

The TOEFL paper-based Test (PBT) was still available in limited areas until 2017, when it was replaced by the Paper-delivered test. Scores are valid for two years after the test date, and test takers can have their scores sent to institutions or face time.

  • Listening (30 – 40 minutes) -The Listening section consists of 3 parts. The first one contains 30 questions about short conversations. The second part has 8 questions about longer conversations. The last part asks 12 questions about lectures or talks. Harder questions are worth two scores.
  • Structure and Written Expression (25 minutes)-The Structure and Written Expression section has 15 exercises of completing sentences correctly and 25 exercises of identifying errors. Harder questions are worth two scores.
  • Reading Comprehension (55 minutes) – The Reading Comprehension sections has 50 questions about reading passages. Harder questions are worth two scores.
  • Writing (30 minutes)– The TOEFL PBT administrations include a writing test called the Test of Written English (TWE). This is one essay question with 250–300 words on average.

GMAT

Graduate Management Admission Test

  • INTEGRATED REASONING -In 30 minutes, across 12 questions, the test measure the ability to analyze data and evaluate information presented in multiple formats.
  • ANALYTICAL WRITING ASSESSMENT-This 30 minute test measures a student’s ability to think critically and to communicate their ideas coherently.
  • QUANTITATIVE REASONING -Timed at 62 minutes, these 36 questions measure the ability to analyze data and draw conclusions using reasoning skills.
  • VERBAL REASONING– This 65 minute test measures the ability to read and understand written material, to evaluate arguments, and to correct written material to conform to standard written English.

GRE

Graduate Record Examination

  • VERBAL REASONING -This section assesses the capability of the applicant to draw conclusions from discourse, reason from incomplete data, and identify author’s assumptions and perspective.
  • QUANTITATIVE REASONING-These section asses if students can comprehend, interpret, and investigate quantitative information and solve problems using mathematical models.
  • ANALYTICAL WRITING -This section assesses if a student can communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively, and support ideas with relevant reasons and examples.

SAT

There are two SAT sections:

  1. Math
  2. Evidence-Based Reading and Writing

The SAT also includes an optional Essay section. SAT Essay scores are reported separately from overall test scores. Some colleges may require that you complete the SAT Essay.

Timing:

The SAT is 3 hours long. If you choose to take the SAT with Essay, the test will be 3 hours and 50 minutes.

Scoring:


Each section of the SAT is scored on a 200 to 800 point scale. Your total SAT score is the sum of your section scores. The highest possible SAT score is 1600. If you take the Essay, you will receive a separate score.
